Probiotics In Kefir

Not Only Probiotics, Kefir Has Many More Health Benefits!

Kefir is another probiotics food source that is based on dairy, just like yogurt, however much more nutritious and therapeutic than yogurt, as it contains also several vitamins, easy digestable complete protein and essential minerals. Unlike yogurt which contains transient bacteria that will not repopulate the digestive tract, kefir has active, growing and living bacteria in it. This is a tremendous boost to your system, and will repopulate your digestive tract very quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly.

Kefir can be processed from any kind of milk, cow, goat or sheep, ox, buffalo, soy, rice or coconut. The milk will be fermented by some grains, gelatinous white or yellow particles that contain bacteria/yeast mixture, clumped together with casein and complex sugar. The mixture will result a cultured kefir. Before consume it, you must remove the grains with a strainer, and add it into the future batch of milk.

Consuming kefir on an empty stomach first thing in the morning will bring the best benefit for your health. You can have it before or for breakfast. Even if you have a lactose intolerance, kefir is safe for you because beneficial bacteria in kefir produce an enzyme called lactase, which consume most of the cultures left after the culturing process.

Kefir contains several strains of friendly bacteria, such as Lactobacillus Caucasus, Leuconostoc, Streptococcus, and Acetobacter, and couple of beneficial yeast like Saccharomyces and Torula kefir. Both friendly bacteria and beneficial yeast in kefir provides you a guard for your clean and healthy colon environment, control and eliminate destructive pathogenic yeasts in the body, as well as a better digestion of your food.

Besides that, kefir also contains some minerals, such as phosphorus which help utilization of carbohydrate, protein and fat for cell growth, maintenance and energy. Other contents are calcium and magnesium which is beneficial for your healthy nervous system; amino acid which help to heal and maintain your body health; and biotin, a vitamin B which help assimilation of other vitamin B in your body.

Looking at so many health benefits contain in it, kefir could be your best choice to provide the healthy benefits of probiotics for your whole family.
